WoW SoD Phase 3: Runes, Raid, Professions, PvP and More

SoD Phase 3 is finally upon us, releasing on April 4th, 2024.

Here is an overview of the new content available from that date.

  • The level cap is set to rise from 40 to 50, and there will be a minimum addition of six new runes for every class, each slotting into the Head and Wrist equipment slots.

20-man Raid: Sunken Temple

The Temple of Atal’Hakkar, also known as the Sunken Temple, awaits level 50 adventurers in the Swamp of Sorrows. This raid accommodates up to 20 players and features 8 bosses, including Atal’alarion and the new Festering Rot Slime. Accessible from Phase 3, it offers numerous new items and sets, revamped epic drops, and upleveled quests with improved rewards. With a one-week lockout, generous drops compensate for limited access. Additionally, raiders can obtain two raid tokens from bosses and exchange rare materials for powerful consumables with a special NPC within the temple.

Professions receive a significant overhaul:

  • Professions now have an uncapped progression up to level 300 (Artisan).
  • Specializations within professions are introduced, with plans for special enhancements at levels 50 and 60.
  • Numerous new specialization quests and recipes are added.
  • A new quest line unlocks Nightmare Armaments crafting recipes, including epic shoulders, engineering bracers, and a reusable alchemy flask, with access costs minimized.
  • Epic Phase 2 recipes sold by Ziri see reduced costs.
  • Outdoor PvE event “Nightmare Incursions” is introduced, offering repeatable content for levels 25-50. Accessible via dream portals in Ashenvale, Duskwood, Hinterlands, and Feralas, the event features corrupted realms teeming with dragons, treants, and other foes, providing both solo and group challenges and opportunities to earn new items and reputation with the Emerald Wardens.
Classic dungeons like Blackrock Depths, Maraudon, and Zul’Farrak receive refreshed loot for max-level players.

Dual Talent Specialization becomes purchasable at level 40 from Grendag Brightbeard for 50 gold.

New PvP features include:

  • Level 50 PvP Sets requiring ranks 5 through 7 to equip, available from the Emerald Wardens faction.
  • Blood Moon event updates introduce level 50 rewards and a new currency, Massacre Coins, earned from defeating higher-level players.
  • Bloodstained Commendation is phased out, replaced by a new PvP honor consumable token purchasable with the new currencies.

World Buff adjustments are made:

  • Temple of Atal’Hakkar provides a new world buff.
  • Gnomeregan world buff is unavailable after level 49.
  • Blackfathom Deeps world buff is unavailable after level 39.

Leveling changes include:

  • Certain items like Marks of Honor, Wastewander Water Pouches, and Troll Necklaces are no longer effective for fast leveling from 40-49.
  • The 50% version of Discoverer’s Delight is available from 40-49, alongside the 100% buff for levels 1-39.
  • Gnomeregan raid offers substantial XP rewards for each boss kill.
  • Nightmare Incursions serve as a supplemental leveling experience.
